The Union Government is all ready now, to set-up a dedicated National Highway (NH) Toll-Free Number 1033, to report road accidents or to register complaints regarding operations and maintenance of NH's.
A single 4-digit, 24x7 Toll-Free 1033 Universal Access Number (UAN), would be assisted by proficient call center executives.
According to National Highways Authority of India, Chairman, Deepak Kumar the work related to this project has nearly come to an end and the NHAI is planning to launch the helpline number in the first week of February 2018, nationwide.
Deepak Kumar informed the helpline number aims to deliver quick emergency solutions to distressed NH's road users.
The helpline number will provide immediate medical help to accident victims by taking injured to the nearest hospital, removing road obstacles like fallen trees, accidentally wrecked vehicles, flat tyre and other worst road conditions.
Deepak Kumar also mentioned that NHAI in compliance with the State Governments is also arranging medically equipped ambulances for NH road users.
As per NHAI officials, the Indian Highways Management Company Ltd (IHMCL), an ancillary of NHAI, had completed the Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping of India’s entire NH network.
