Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the highest award (a lifetime achievement award), awarded to a film personality for the outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian Cinema.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award is started from 1969 by Government of India. It is named after the father of Indian cinema Dadasaheb Phalke, conferred on the commemorating of Dadasaheb Phalke’s contribution to Indian Cinema.
It is honored annually at the National Film Festival Awards Ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award contains Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) Medallion, a cash prize of Rs. 10 Lakhs along with a shawl.
