PM Narendra Modi inaugurates India's ever first Global Mobility Summit 'MOVE' on 7th Sep 2018: Themes, Details, Highlights

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated first-ever Global Mobility Summit ‘MOVE’organised in New Delhi on 7th September 2018. 

The Global Mobility Summit ‘MOVE’is a two-day summit, organised by Niti Aayog from 7th Sep to 8th Sep 2018. It will deliberate on steps to promote electric vehicles and shared mobility.

The Global Mobility Summit ‘MOVE’ deliberated on five themes including electrification and alternative fuels, reinventing public transport, goods transport and logistics, and data analytics and mobility.

The Global Mobility Summit ‘MOVE’ focuses to make Indian cities pollution free. It will be attended by Union Ministers including Arun Jaitley, Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, and Ravi Shankar Prasad.

The Global Mobility Summit ‘MOVE’  main aim is to revolutionise the way people travel in India, along with making mobility more connected, shared and seamless.

The Global Mobility Summit ‘MOVE’ also saw the participation from more than 2,200 people from across the world including leaders from the government, industry, research organisations, academia, think tanks and civil society.

The representatives of major companies including Mahindra Electric, Hero Cycles, Tata Motors, Tata Power, Ola, Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Toyota, Bosch and Sun Mobility are also expected to participate in the summit.

PM Narendra Modi speaking on the occasion, proclaimed that focus must go beyond cars and stressed that common public transport must be made the cornerstone of mobility; 

PM Modi also added, "Congestion-free mobility critical to check economic and environmental costs of congestion,".
