Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on 25th May 2018, has laid the foundation stone of the first phase of 'Patratu Super Thermal Power Project' located near Patratu town in Ramgarh district, Jharkhand.
The first phase of 2,400 Megawatt (MW) capacity of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) 'Patratu Super Thermal Power Project' will be set up at an estimated cost of around Rs 18,000 crores.
Patrata Thermal Power Station plant is operated by the Jharkhand State Electricity Board.
Patrata Thermal Power Station is a coal-based thermal power plant. It is a Joint Venture with 74% stake of the Jharkhand government and Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd’s 26% stakes. PVUNL is a subsidiary of NTPC.
PVUNL plans to develop the project in two phases with 2,400 MW capacity including three units of 800 MW capacities each to be commissioned in Phase-I and 1,600 MW with two units of 800 MW capacities each in Phase-II.
Patrata Thermal Power Station project will allocate 85% of the power generated to Jharkhand. The project condenser technology and rail loading facility for transportation of ash. The plant also complies with the new emission norms with high-efficiency electrostatic precipitator (ESP), Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) and Nox emission control systems, the company said.
NTPC has awarded the Engineering will be equipped with Dry Ash disposable system, zero liquid discharge system, air-cooled, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contract of the project to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). Its first unit is expected to be commissioned in 2022. The other two units will be commissioned later within a year.
