PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Pilgrim Friendly New 'Tarakote Marg' Track In Vaishno Devi: Interesting Facts, Features 

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi formally inaugurated the new build pilgrim friendly ‘Tarakote Marg’ tracks in Vaishno Devi on 19th May 2018.

Tarakote Marg project was constructed after the proposal of Governor. In February 2011, the shrine board had approved the proposal.

Tarakote Marg track which was opened to pilgrims on 13th May 2018 is an alternative route constructed between Banganga and Adhkuwari (Indraprastha) in Vaishno Devi.

Tarakote Marg track is 500 meters shorter and much wider than the old track. It is 7-km alternate track, which is 6-m wide, has a comfortable gradient and attractive wayside amenities.

Tarakote Marg provides the pilgrims a cleaner and scenic route, which has two bhojanalayas (Food Courts), four view points and seven toilet blocks.

Tarakote Marg track caters a medical unit fully equipped with doctors, paramedics, medicines and equipment has been established to facilitate the pilgrims on 24x7.

Tarakote Marg’s entire track is based on a ramp-type design, without any steps, and has an average and smooth gradient of one in 12 which, with interlocking antiskid tiles, makes it easier for walking.

Tarakote Marg track has been aesthetically landscaped and over 46,000 ornamental plants, herbs, flowering and avenue trees have been planted to improve its ambience.

Tarakote Marg track also installed with three floating fountains and is illuminated with 500 energy-efficient LED lights, beside, 16 water ATMs have been installed on the track at intervals of 400-500 m.

Almost the entire ‘Tarakote Marg’ track has been covered with blue-roofed sturdy shelter sheds and a welded-mesh fence for the safety of pilgrims against shooting stones and for protecting them from rain, sunshine and any accident on hill slopes.

Battery vehicle facility is available at Indraprastha (Adhkuwari) and Manokmana Bhawan for infirm, sick and handicap devotees. The booking of the facility is subject to availability.
