Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 10th edition of a biennial exhibition of weapons and military hardware ‘DefExpo India-2018’ on 11th April 2018 at Kancheepuram in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The DefExpo India-2018 is a four-day long defense expo scheduled to be held from 11th April to 14th April 2018. The DefExpo India event is being organised by Ministry of Defence, since 10 years and is accelerating its popularity year after year.
The DefExpo 2018 event main theme is to showcase India as a major hub of defence production in the world.
The DefExpo 2018 event is believed to be held in nearly two lakh square metre of space.
The DefExpo India-2018 showed the participation of over 700 exhibitors from over 50 countries around the world including major defence manufacturing nations such as US, UK, Russia, France, Israel, Korea, Sweden etc.
According to the Defence Ministry, over 670 defence firms, including 154 foreign manufacturers, are participating in the exhibition of weapons and military hardware.
The DefExpo India-2018 event will exhibit indigenously developed military helicopters, aircraft, missiles and rockets, capabilities to manufacture submarines, frigates and corvettes among others.
