Indian Para-athlete Deepa Malik (aged 47 years) has won a gold medal in the F-53/54 category of discus throw on the second day of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix on 14th March 2018 in Dubai.
Deepa Malik has now topped the spot with rank 1st in the discus Asia Ranking 53 category and secured 2nd position in the Asian Games combined category event 51/52/53 with a career-best throw of 8.01 meters.
Deepa Malik after winning this feat has also qualified for the Asian Para Games 2018, scheduled to be held from 8th October 2018 to 16th 2018 in Indonesia.
Deepa Malik is the first Indian woman to win a medal in Paralympic Games and won a Silver medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the shot put, with lifetime best performance of 4.61 metre.
Deepa Malik has won many accolades for her participation in various adventure sports, swimming competition, biking sports and as an inspiring entrepreneur. She is also a Limca Book of Record holder for four times.
Deepa Malik is a proud recipient of the Arjuna Award in 2012 and Padma Shri Award in the year 2017.
