Union Government will commemorate the honourable Nanaji Deshmukh at his birth anniversary from 11th October 2016 to 11th October 2017.
The Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma has announced that the inaugural programme will be held on the eve of the birthday of Nanaji Deshmukh.
He was born in 11th October 1916 in Kadoli in Maharashtra and his original name was Chandikadas Amritrao Deshmukh.
He has supported Total Revolution movement of JP Narayan.
He also established the India’s first rural University in Chitrakoot named as Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya.
He also won Lok Sabha elections in 1977 from Balrampur Lok Sabha from Janata Party.
He was also nominated for Rajya Sabha elections in the year 1999 and was awarded Padma Bhushan in the year 1999.
