Nadia Murad was born on 1993 in Iraq. She belongs to Yazidis ethnoreligious minority. At the age of 19, ISIS attacked the Yazidis community in the village killing 600 people.
After that Murad and other women's of their community taken into prisoner by Islamic State in Iraq. She was held as a slave, burned with cigarettes, and raped when trying to escape. After three months, She manages to escape from the prison in the year 2014.
She was smuggled out of Iraq and in early 2015 went as a refugee to Germany. Later that year she began to campaign to raise awareness of human trafficking. In 2017 she met Pope Francis and Archbishop Gallagher, She asked for the helping Yazidis who are still in ISIS captivity.
She wrote a book on her life "The Last Girl: My Story of Captivity, and My Fight Against the Islamic State".
In December 2015, she told her story and issues related to human traffic in United Nations Security Council.
Nadia Murad was awarded the Nobel Prize for her efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict.
