During the last few decades, the environmental impact of the petroleum-based transportation infrastructure, along with the fear of peak oil, has led to renewed interest in an electric transportation infrastructure.
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) setup 50 Electronic Vehicle charging points in the first phase, will likely be commissioned within six months. Overall 500 EV charging station going to set up Maharastra in four years. Cost of each charging station is 4 lakh.
These 50 stations will come up in Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Aurangabad and on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Cost of each unit of charging from these stations will be Rs 6.
Currently, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority is operating 25 electric buses between Kurla and Bandra stations from Bandra-Kurla Complex.
