The Central Government has constituted the Strategic Policy Group-SPG to assist the National Security Council advising the Prime Minister on National Security and Strategic Interests on October 08, 2018.
With the help of the National Security Council, the Strategic Policy Group (SPG) will do another work, including a long-term strategic review of the security issues of the country.
Sources in the Home Ministry said in New Delhi that the National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, presiding over the SPG, will take over and the Deputy Chairman of the Policy Commission, the Cabinet Secretary, the Chairman of the three Armed Forces, the Governor of Reserve Bank, Foreign Secretary, Home Secretary, Finance Secretary and Defense Secretary Will be a member.
Apart from them, Secretary of Defense Production and Supplies, Scientific Advisor to the Defense Minister and Secretary of the Cabinet will also be present in this group.
Secretary of the Department of Revenue, Secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy, Secretary of the Department of Space, Director of Intelligence Bureau and Secretary of the National Security Council Secretariat will also be members of this group. Another official said that whenever needed, the representatives of other ministries and departments will also be invited to the meeting.
