Mission Sagar was launched in May 2020 by the government of India in respect to COVID-19 relief.
It made an effort to provide essential aid to the Indian Ocean Countries.
Mission Sagar is different from the SAGAR initiative but in alignment with it.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic,the Government of India launched a series a 3 missions in 2020 which were supposed to carry out by Indian Navy.
The ships bought essential items such as medicines to the parts of India's maritime Partners.
It was the first time that a single relief mission was taken to cover all the island nations in the Western.
Indian Ocean except Sri Lanka. India has sent INS Keshari left port on 20 May 2020 along with food items ,
Medicines & medical assistance teams and it returned to the port on 28 June 2020 travelling 55 days over 7500 nautical miles.
Mission Sagar -II
The another one was INS Airavat,left port on November 2020 along with food to
Sudan,South Sudan ,Eritrea and others along with fulfilling missing humanitarian.
And the country is also strengthening its strategic position because their is a major shipping lane between Red sea & Suez Canal.
Mission Sagar-III
The third one was INS Kiltan which move towards to Cambodia & Vietnam on December 2020.
