MHRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' Profile, Education, Political Career

Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank" is an Indian politician and former chief minister of Uttarakhand. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank" served as a Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2009 to 2011.

Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank" is currently a Member of Parliament in 17th Lok Sabha and represents the Haridwar Parliamentary Constituency of Uttarakhand in Lok Sabha 

Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank" contested again in the 2019 general elections and retained his seat for a second term with a margin on 258,729 votes.

Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank" was appointed as a Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD) by Modi 2.0 Government in 2019.

Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank" was born on 15th July 1959 (59-years-old) in Pinani, Pauri Garhwal in the state of Uttarakhand, India. He took M.A degree from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttarakhand.

Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank" is also a Poet, Writer & Author. His collections of poems titled 'Samarpan' was published in the year 1983. His literature work has been translated into other languages like French and German. 

Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank" was elected as an MLA for five consecutive terms.

Ramesh Pokhriyal "Nishank" has been awarded a Gopio International Award for his literary, social, and political contributions by the government of Mauritius.
