India and Germany have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 23rd February 2018 in New Delhi.
The MoU was signed between Union Ministry for Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and the German development agency, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, India on behalf of Government of Germany.
The MoU was signed for Implementation of Agreement in Sustainable Urban Development and Smart Cities in India.
The MoU was signed with an aim to develop and implement concepts for sustainable urban development providing urban basic services and housing in select cities as well as smart cities in India.
Under the MoU, GIZ will contribute up to €8 Million Euros for the project which would be implemented for a period of three years.
Union Minister of State, Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri informed that Technical cooperation measure will support approaches for sustainable urban development in the area of integrated planning, provision of affordable housing and basic services with particular focus on water, wastewater and solid waste management and mobility.
