Ministry of Health on 9th June 2018, has signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with 8 States and 4 Union Territories to implement Ayushman Bharat Scheme- National Health Protection Mission.
Among the 8 states are Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand.
Among the 4 UT Chandigarh is one of them.
Delhi, Odisha, Punjab and West Bengal have not given any assent towards the adoption of the programme.
Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Tamil Nadu will be signing the MOU.
Regional workshops are being planned across India to sign MoU with other states also.
The Ayushman Bharat Health scheme will provide coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family to 10 crore poor and vulnerable families annually.
The Ayushman Bharat health scheme will target poor rural families and identified occupational categories of urban workers’ families about 8.03 crores in rural and 2.33 crores in urban areas.
The Ayushman Bharat Health scheme is expected to commence from 15th August 2018.
