Union Cabinet took a decision to make retirement age of doctors working at central government to 65 years of age. The government decision to extend the age of retirement of the doctors is applicable to all AYUSH & central government doctors and dentists.
The doctors working at Central Health Services (CHS) which includes in the railways and armed forces has already enjoying the retirement age 65 years benefit starting from the last year (2016).
Doctors holding the administrative post will continue at that till 62 years of age later they will be moved to non-administrative posts.
According to Union Health Minister, J.P. Nadda, this decision will help to fight with shortage of experienced medical doctors and faculties at medical colleges in India. Ultimately it will strength the health sector in India.
