ICFRE and TIFAC Signed MoU to Support Forest Based Communities- Details, Features, Purpose

The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) and Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 20th March 2018 in New Delhi.

The MoU was signed with an objective to provide livelihood opportunities and augment the income of forest-based communities. It will be valid for the period of 5 years.

The MoU will help to open up doors of synergy and cooperation in the areas of forest technology, extension and commercialisation to several stakeholders including farmers, industries and others.

The MoU will also expedite industries to properly utilise forest-based resources with access of technology to different users. It will also enable interaction with stakeholders regularly to bridge the gap of communication.

Under the MoU, TIFAC will help ICFRE to refine and modernise the technologies developed, take technologies to end users including farmers, state forest departments, forest-based industries and forest-dependent communities in more effective manner.

Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC)

TIFAC is an autonomous council under Department of Science and Technology of India. It was established as a registered Society in February 1988.It is headquartered in New Delhi.

TIFAC is commanded to assess modern technology and set directions for future technological development in India in important socio-economic sectors.

Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE)

ICFRE is an autonomous organisation under Ministry of Environment and Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) of India. It is headquartered in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

ICFRE is commanded to conduct forestry research, transfer technologies developed to states and other user agencies and to impart forestry education.
