Matteo Renzi, Prime Minister of Italy announces his resignation on Sunday, December 4 after learning that he suffers a crushing setback in referendum on constitutional reform.

The ‘Yes’ won almost 40.9% as set side by side with 59.1% for ‘No’ in accordance to the final vote count.
Matteo Renzi is to convene his cabinet and hand his resignation to President, Sergio Matarella and his departure will plunge Italy into a new phase of political uncertainty and economic turmoil.
Italy’s parties will now have to work together on new electoral law with the 5-star urging a swift deal for opening way for elections in early 2017.
