Marta Vieira da Silva was born on 19th February in 1986 in Brazil. She was commonly known as Marta. She is a Brazilian footballer. Marta was a six-time winner of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Player of the Year award (2006–10) and 2018.
She was discovered by Brazilian coach Helena Pacheco, Marta moved to Rio de Janeiro to train with the Vasco da Gama women's club at the age of 14.
She made her international football debut in 2002 as a member of Brazil’s under-20 Women’s World Cup team.
The following year she joined the senior national squad and scored three goals at the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup. 2007 Women’s World Cup, she won the Golden Boot by scoring seven goals during the tournament.
In 2015 Women's World Cup she scored her 15th goal of the tournament and became the top scorer in this tournament.
Norway’s Ada Hegerberg (Olympique Lyonnais) and Germany’s Dzsenifer Maroszan (Olympique Lyonnais) were also finalists for the award in 2018 FIFA player of the year.
