Maharashtra first Mega Food Park, named as Satara Mega Food Park Pvt. Ltd has been established at Degaon Village, Satara District in Maharashtra.
The Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Harsimrat Kaur Badal has inaugurated Satara Mega Food Park in the presence of Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis on 1st March 2018.
The Satara Mega Food Park has been set up in 64 acres of land at a cost of Rs. 139.30 crore.
The Satara Mega Food Park will leverage the additional investment of about Rs. 250 crores in 25-30 food processing units in the park.
The Satara Mega Food Park will eventually lead to turnover of about Rs. 450-500 crore annually.
The Satara Mega Food Park will provide direct and indirect employment to 5,000 persons and benefit about 25,000 farmers in Primary Processing Centers (PPCs) and Collection Centers (CCs) catchment areas.
FPI Minister, Harsimrat Kaur Badal proclaimed that it is aimed to focus on strengthening the food processing industry so that agriculture sector grows enormously and become a major contributor to doubling the farmer’s income and ‘Make in India’ initiative of the NDA Government.
FPI Minister, Harsimrat Kaur Badal further added the Government will provide financial assistance up to Rs. 50.00 Crore per Mega Food Park project.
This is the 12th Mega Food Park being operationalised in the country and the 10th one operationalised during the tenure of the NDA Government.
