Madhya Pradesh government has introduced Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Sambal) Yojana-2018, a scheme to provide subsidized power supply.
The Madhya Pradesh state cabinet, chaired by Cheif minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has approved this scheme on 5th June 2018.
Power connection under the Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Sambal) Yojana would be provided free of cost to the beneficiaries. The scheme is believed to benefit 88 lakh families in the MP state.
Under the scheme, People not using air-conditioners, electric heaters and whose power consumption is below 1000 watts would be eligible for this scheme.
Under the scheme, the beneficiaries can operate a fan, a television, and bulbs. Under the power bill waiver scheme, pending dues (as on June 1, 2018) of registered laborers of the unorganised sector and poor families would be waived completely.
The scheme is aggregated to cost the state exchequer Rs 1000 crores and will come into effect from 1st July 2018.
