Former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana died in Delhi on 27 October 2018 after a prolonged illness.
He was 82 years old. His family has a wife, one son and two daughters. One of his sons died in August 2018.
Khurana had chest infections and had a fever for the past few days.
Madan Lal Khurana had a brain haemorrhage in 2011. Since then, his health was getting worse.
The leaders of the BJP and other parties including President Ramnath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah have deeply mourned the death of Khurana.
Several leaders, including senior BJP leaders LK Advani, Union Minister Sushma Swaraj, Dr Harshvardhan and state president Manoj Tiwari, paid homage tributes to them.
Delhi Government has announced mourning for Khurana two days.
Due to illness, Madan Lal Khurana was away from active politics for a long time. In the Delhi BJP, he was counted among the key leaders.
His student politics was started in Allahabad and he was also elected as the Mahamantri of Allahabad University Students Union.
In 1960, he became the Secretary of All India Vidyarthi Parishad. He taught in PGDV College before joining active politics.
At the same time, together with leaders like Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Kedarnath Sahni, established Jana Sangh in Delhi.
He was also the Chief Minister of the Jan Sangh from 1965 to 67.
