Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda on17th August 2019, inaugurated a 9-day National Tribal Festival locally called as Aadi Mahotsav in Polo Grounds of Leh in Ladakh.
Aadi Mahotsav event is arranged by the Central Government first-ever time after the Ladhak gets a Union Territory status and it has 97% of tribal population.
The 9-day event starting from 17th August till 25th August 2019 will represent 8 percent of the country’s population.
Aadi Mahotsav theme is' A celebration of the spirit of Tribal Craft, Culture and Commerce'.
Adi Mahotsav aims to provide an opportunity to Ladakhi Tribal artisans to come and get themselves impaneled with Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India to expand their market base.
Aadi Mahotsav will also provide an opportunity to take tribal commerce to the next level of digital and electronic transactions. Another attraction of this festival would be showcasing the electronic and digital skills of the tribals.
Over 160 Tribal artists from more than 20 states are participating in this Adi Mahotsav festival. Artists will participate and showcase their masterpieces.
