Google Doodle Celebrates Social Reformer Raja Ram Mohan Rai 246th Birth Anniversary today

Google’s Doodle is celebrating 246th birthday anniversary of Raja Ram Mohan Rai on 22nd May 2018.

Raja Ram Mohan Rai is also known as the father of Indian Renaissance. He is also known as Indian socio-educational reformer, also titled as ‘Maker of Modern India’, ‘Father of Modern India’, ‘Father of the Bengal Renaissance’ and ‘Pioneer of Indian Journalism’.

Raja Ram Mohan Rai was the founder of the Brahmo Sabha movement in 1828, which engendered the Brahmo Samaj, an influential social-religious reform movement.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy was born on 22nd May 1772 to Ramakanta Roy (Father) and Tarini Devi (Mother) in Radhanagar village of Hooghly district, Bengal Presidency (now West Bengal).  He died on 27th September 1833 in Bristol, England.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy was educated in traditional languages like Sanskrit and Persian. He came across English much later in life and learned the language to get better employment with the British (UK).

Raja Ram Mohan Roy religious views were pure Hinduism in his early life but followed Brahmoism later in his life.

In Raja Ram Mohan Rai’s memory, a Mausoleum at Arnos Vale Cemetery, Bristol, England has been instituted.
