India and Russia in the BRICS Summit 2016 signed 16 agreements on 15th October 2016.
The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and President of Russia Vladimir Putin had jointly signed agreements including defence.
The main dealings were air defence system, four stealth frigates and join production of Kamov Helicopters.
Both the countries have jointly signed for the purchase of air defence aircraft S-400 which is capable of firing three different types of Missiles.
India plans to organise five different types of systems which they would organise three at the border of Pakistan and two at the border of China.
Another agreement was signed for four Admiral Grigorovich class guided missile stealth frigates which is in maintenance of six Talwar class frigates that Russia built in 2013 and 2014.
They have also signed joint venture for Kamov 226T helicopter of USD 1 billion.
The total cost of these three deals is 43,000 crore.
