Jharkhand has become the first state to Direct Benefit Transfer of Kerosene oil in mainly Jantara, Khunti, Hazaribagh and Chatra.
The scheme was identified to 9 states namely, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat but proper implementation did not took place due to lack of bank accounts.
Under this scheme, kerosene oil is sold at not subsidised price and the subsidy will be transferred directly to the bank accounts.
The main aim of this scheme is to decrease the subsidy leakages and black marketing happening in the state.
The states which will be implementing the scheme will be given fiscal incentives equal to subsidy saved in first two years is 75%, third year is 50% and fourth year is 25%.
The DBT scheme for kerosene oil aims at cutting down corruption for cheap lighting fuel and cooking with diesel.
