IPS Sandeep Lakhtakia New Director General of National Security Guards (NSG) Details, Profile, Service, Contribution

Senior IPS officer Sandeep Lakhtakia has been appointed as the new Director General of the ‘black cats commando’ force National Security Guard (NSG) on 1st February 2018.

Sandeep Lakhtakia took charge as the new DG of NSG succeeding chief S P Singh, who got retired on 31st January 2018.

Sandeep Lakhtakia was appointed by The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by PM Narendra Modi on 19th January 2018.

Sandeep Lakhtakia prior to his new appointment was serving as a Special DG in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) headquartered in New Delhi. He will hold the DG post of NSG force until 31st July 2019, which is also his scheduled retirement.

Sandeep Lakhtakia is a 1984-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Telangana cadre. He also holds a post-graduate degree in Business Administration.

Sandeep Lakhtakia held several positions of responsibility in his long career which includes Superintendent of Police, Warangal, Deputy Commissioners of Police (Traffic) and in Hyderabad-West Zone, Commissioner –Vijayawada and Deputy Inspector General-Security.

Sandeep Lakhtakia was also an Inspector-General in the elite Special Protection Group for over eight years. He also served as an Additional Director-General (Law & Order) in Telangana.
