International Youth Day is celebrated every year on 12 August across the world to draw attention to giving a set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth.
International Youth Day observance aims to highlight the role of young women and men as essential partners in change and opportunity to raise awareness of challenges and problems facing the world’s youth.

International Youth Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) by passing the resolution 54/120 in December 1999. It was first celebrated on 12 August 2000.
International Youth Day was instituted by UNHA on the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth held in Lisbon (Portugal) from 8 to 12 August 1998.
