International Day of Rural Women is celebrated every year on 15th October around the world with an aim to empower women in rural areas.

The 3 main goals namely ending poverty and hunger, empower women and girls, achieve food security can be achieved only by improving the role of rural women in every aspect of global development
International Day of Rural Women was first passed by the United Nations under a resolution in 2007.
In India, the Modi government has launched several schemes for the upliftment of rural women such as Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Anandadhara Yojana among many others.
