International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) - Details, History, Purpose

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is International acclaimed & the world's largest organization of Police/law enforcement executives which is highly regarded for its role in identifying and reverting to the changing needs of the law enforcement community.

The IACP's is a nonprofit organization, Headquartered based in Alexandria, Virginia, USA.

The IACP has seven World Regional Offices on geographical lines, including the Asia-Pacific World Regional Office (APWRO) of the IACP.

The IACP meeting is organised annually once every year in the United States where more than 15,000 Police officers from all over the world gathered together to discuss various issues.

The IACP aims to develop and promote many tools presently used by law enforcement agencies. These tools include the uses of fingerprints, Uniform Crime Reports and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy for state and local police..

The Asia-Pacific World Regional Office (APWRO) was established in the year 1994 New Delhi with Director, Intelligence Bureau, as its Chair Person.

The IACP & the APWRO collaboratively had organized four conferences in New Delhi including, 4th IACP Asia Pacific Regional Conference in January 1992, 8th IACP Asian Executive Policing Conference in March 2001, IACP Seminar on 'Terrorism' in September 2008 and Regional Conference on "Impact of Social Media on Policing" in September 2013.
