Prime Minister Narendra Modi 2.0 Government 'Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has appointed senior IPS officer Arvind Kumar as the new Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief on 26th June 2019.
Arvind Kumar, the new Director of Intelligence Bureau, is regarded as a specialist in Kashmir affairs with good experience in fighting Naxal extremism.
Arvind Kumar is also the IPS officer of the 1984 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre. He holds the rank of Director General.
Arvind Kumar is currently in charge of the Special Director, Kashmir in Intelligence Bureau (IB).
Arvind Kumar is serving with IB since 1991.
The Intelligence Bureau is India's internal intelligence agency.
The IB was recast as the Central Intelligence Bureau in 1947 under the Ministry of Home Affairs
