INS Sumitra 3 day visit to Australia 4 Nov for Festival Of India

 

 

Indian Navy's Offshore Patrol Vessel Sumitra arrived at Sydney on a three day visit from 4th to 7th November 2016 to participate in Festival of India

INS Sumitra aims at strengthening bilateral ties with Australia and enhancing maritime security cooperation between two countries. 

It also aims at conducting various programmes like official calls, reception on board, ship open to visitors, guided tours for Indian Naval personnel and professional interaction. 

INS Sumitra to participate in 'Festival of India' 

INS Sumitra will also conduct passenger exercise with RAN ships. 

Sumitra is the fourth of the Saryu class ships and is constructed by Goa Shipyard Ltd.

Ship has also implemented organisational tasks like Operation Rahat.

The ship has a range of 6,500 nautical miles and is capable of embarking on Dhruv or Chetak helicopter.
