PepsiCo Chairwoman and CEO, Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi has been appointed as the new Independent Director of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on February 9, 2018.
Indra Nooyi is now, the first female independent Director of the ICC. She has to join the ICC Board in June 2018, as to align with the term of the ICC Independent Chairman for the term of 2 years.
Indra Nooyi, a global business leader, is appointed by ICC with belief to cater in improving the global governance of the sport.
Indra Nooyi was born on 28th October 1955 to a middle-class Tamil family in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She completed her schooling from Holy Angels Anglo Indian School in Chennai.
Indra Nooyi did her Graduation BSc (Math) from Madras Christian College of the University of Madras in 1974 and a Post graduation (MBA) from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta in 1976. Later, in 1978, she also took master's degree in Public and Private Management from Yale School of Management in Connecticut, USA.
Indra Nooyi has been consistently ranked by Fortune Magazine among the World's 100 Most Powerful Women.
Indra Nooyi also received Padma Bhushan the third-highest civilian award of India in 2007.
