The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its 100th satellite from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on 12th January 2018.
ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV C-40), rocket in its 42nd flight, successfully launched 31 of total 710 kg satellites in a single flight mission. The satellites were launched in two orbits which makes the mission more unique.
The PSLV C-40, carried Cartosat-2 series remote sensing satellite, one microsatellite and one nano- satellites from India and 3 microsatellites and 25 nano-satellites for six other countries, including Canada, Finland, France, Republic of Korea, United Kingdom and the United States.
ISRO's, PSLV C-40 carried India's 100th satellite, Cartosat 2 - a surveillance satellite was placed into the sun-synchronous according to ISRO.
The Cartosat-2 series satellite launch is a follow-on mission with the primary objective to provide High-Resolution Geographical Scenes, specific spot imageries.
Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, President of India, Ram Nath Kovind and many other politicians/dignitaries congratulated ISRO, for its first success in the beginning of 2018.
