Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on 4th October flagged off the newly renamed ‘Sarbat Da Bhala Express’ at New Delhi Railway station.
The Sarbat Da Bhala Express was earlier called New Delhi- Lohian Khas New Delhi Intercity Express and was renamed as a tribute to Guru Nanak Dev on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary celebrations (November 12, 2019).
The Sarbat Da Bhala Express runs from Delhi to Lohian Khas in Jalandhar, Punjab via holy city Sultanpur Lodhi.
The proposal to rename the New Delhi- Lohian Khas New Delhi Intercity Express train was made by Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
About Rs, 22 crores were sanctioned by the railway ministry to upgrade Sultanpur Lodhi railway station and to launch 14 new trains.
The Sarbat Da Bhala Express will run on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (five days a week).
The composition of the Sarbat Da Bhala Express is Air Conditioner (AC) Chair Car coaches- 2, Second class sitting coaches- 6, General Coaches- 7.
