In 1997, Indian Railways has initiated Tatkal tickets concept, keeping in mind the urgent requirement of the travelers. It can be booked through Tatkal window or through IRCTC in form of e-tickets.

Passengers asked to pay Tatkal ticket charges for bookings under this facility. The bulk of the Tatkal train tickets are booked as soon as the Tatkal window opens.

IRCTC’s Tatkal ticket booking new rules are as follows:

AC Tatkal tickets booking will start from 10 am and non-AC ticket booking to begin at 11:00 AM. You have to book the ticket a day before the traveling date.

If a train is running late for more than 3 hours, then in that case passenger can claim their complete refund of Tatkal fare & charges.

A Passenger can book for Tatkal ticket for a maximum of only 4 passengers per PNR.

A passenger can also claim a full refund if the train’s route is diverted and the traveler doesn’t want to travel on that route.

A passenger can further claim a refund on Tatkal tickets if the train route is diverted and the boarding station/destination or both are not on the diverted route.

A passenger can claim a full refund if he/she is accommodated in a lower class and doesn’t wish to travel in the lower class and the passenger has paid the difference if he/she agrees to travel in the lower class.
