Railway introduces a new tri-weekly Special Rajdhani Express between Delhi and Mumbai Route from 16 October 2017

Ministry of the railway is introducing a new tri-weekly Special Rajdhani Express between Delhi and Mumbai from 16 October 2017.

The main aim behind the move is to fulfill the long overdue demand of passengers and to provide faster and convenient connectivity to passengers between the two metro cities.

Delhi being the capital city is not only an important commercial, transport and cultural hub but also the political centre of India.

Mumbai is India's commercial and financial capital, along with the capital city of Maharashtra State.

Hence, as both the cities are important business centres of the country, there is a greater need for effective and efficient transport connectivity between the two of them.

Indian Railways are already running two Rajdhanis and more than 30 mail/express trains between the two metro cities.

New tri-weekly Special Rajdhani Express's objective, feature, and fare

The new train will run from Hazrat Nizamuddin and will have stoppages at Kota, Vadodara and Surat stations.

There will be no Flexi fare component in the fare structure of the train, the travel time will be reduced from 15 hours 50 minutes to 13 hours 55 minutes.

The special train would save around two hours in journey time in comparison to the already plying Rajdhani between Delhi and Mumbai.

The train will comprise of one first AC, two 2nd AC and twelve 3rd AC compartments and one pantry car. The catering services in this train will be optional.

The fare for the train in 3rd AC will be Rs 500 -600 lower than the maximum flex fare of 3rd AC in Mumbai Rajdhani. The fare for 2nd AC will be lower by around Rs 700- 800.
