Political theory is a set of specified relationships involving political matters that focus and organize inquiries to describe, explain, and predict political events and behaviors. Political theory is considered as the basis and branch of political science which is to reach generalizations, inferences, or conclusions to be drawn from the data gathered by other specialists, not only in political science but throughout the whole series of human knowledge and experience.
Approaches of Political Theory:-
Some process must be followed in the study of political science and the process of discovering the political truth. These procedures are defined as approaches, methods, techniques, and strategies. The approaches to studying political science are grouped as traditional and modern approaches.
Traditional Approaches:-
Traditional approaches are value-based. These approaches have given more importance to values. The lawyers of this approaches believe that the study of political science cannot and should not be completely scientific. There is a large number of traditional approaches such as philosophical, institutional, legal and historical approaches.
Modern Approaches:-
Modern approaches are fact-based approaches. They insist on the factual study of political events and try to reach the scientific and definitive conclusions. The aim of modern approaches is to replace normativism with empiricism. Hence modern approaches are marked by empirical investigation of relevant data. Modern approaches include sociological, psychological, economic, quantitative, simulation, system, behavioral and Marxian approaches.
