Indian Navy: INSV Tarini Arrived In Goa After Global Circumnavigation Led By Six Women Crew- expedition Navika Sagar Parikrama Details, Achievements

Indian Navy's six-woman crew members arrived in Goa on 21st May 2018, after circumnavigating the globe in over 8 months on board the naval vessel Indian Naval Sailing Vessel Tarini (INSV Tarini).

The all-women crew of INSV Tarini was received at the Mandovi jetty by India's Defence Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and other Naval officials.

The expedition named as 'Navika Sagar Parikrama' was flagged off on 10th September 2017 from Mandovi jetty, with Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi leading her team of five naval officers including Pratibha Jamwal, Aishwarya Boddapati, Patarapalli Swathi, Vijaya Devi and Payal Gupta.

Navika Sagar Parikrama team completed the feat in the 55-foot sailing vessel, INSV Tarini, which was inducted into the Indian Navy on February 18, 2018.

As per the Navy officials, this was the first-ever Indian circumnavigation of the globe by an all-women crew.

INSV Tarini led by six-women crew members of Indian Navy had successfully achieved the feat in just 254 days including following achievements:

Visited 5 Countries,

Sailed across 4 Continents, 

Sailed across 3 oceans,

Passed through 3 Capes

Crossed the Equator twice
