India- Malaysia will conduct a joint military exercise named as ‘Harimau Shakti-2018’ as part of efforts to strengthen the defence cooperation of both the countries.
The Indian and Malaysian armies will conduct a two-week joint military exercise ‘Harimau Shakti’ starting from 30th April 2018 to 13th may 2018 in Malaysia.
The joint exercise 'Harimau Shakti' will take place in the dense forests of Sengai Perdik in Hulu Langat district of Malaysia.
The joint exercise ‘Harimau Shakti’ aims at strengthening cooperation and coordination between the armed forces of both the countries and to share the expertise of both the contingents in the conduct of counter-insurgency operations in jungle terrain.
The Indian Army will be represented by 4 Grenadiers, one of the oldest infantry battalions which have rich operational experience in conventional as well as counter- insurgency warfare.
The Malaysian squadron will be represented by the soldiers from 1 Royal Ranjer Regiment and the Royal Malay Regiment, known for their experience in jungle warfare.
The Harimau Shakti-2018 will be the first time when a joint training exercise of this magnitude involving Indian and Malaysian soldiers is being organized on Malaysian land.
