The Indian Air force (IAF) has appointed Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria full name Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria to take over as the next and 26th chief of air staff.
RKS Bhadauria will serve as chief for 3-year tenure or tenure until 62 years of age, whichever comes first.
RKS Bhadauria currently serving as the Vice Chief of the IAF and he will replace incumbent Chief BS Dhanoa who will be superannuated on 30th September 2019.
RKS Bhadauria is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy commissioned to IAF in 1980, he headed the Cost Negotiation Committee (CNC) for the Rafale deal.
RKS Bhadauria has 4,250 hours of flying experience.
RKS Bhadauria holds a master's degree in defence studies from the Command and Staff College of Bangladesh.
RKS Bhadauria has also served as commander of Jaguar Squadron, Command Officer of Flight Test Squadron in Aircraft and System Testing Stability, Chief Investigation Pilot and Project Director of National Flight Test Center based on Flight Combat Aircraft Project.
RKS Bhadauria has been awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and Air Force Medal.
