The Indian Railway has commenced the main arch of the world's highest bridge on the River Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district.
This railway bridge will provide the direct connective to the Kashmir Valley.
The iconic bridge on Chenab of Jammu and Kashmir ascend 359 meters above the bed of the River Chenab. This bridge is 30 meters upper than the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The Chenab Bridge in Reasi District is 1.3km long. The cast of Chenab bridge is Rs 1250 Crore.
The bridge forms the critical link in the 111-km stretch between Banihal and Katra which is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla section of the Kashmir Railway project.
The bridge is part of the flagship Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project.
