India and United States armies will conduct their joint annual combat exercise “Yudh Abhyas” at Chaubatia in Uttarakhand.
The 14th edition of Yudh Abhyas-2018 joint annual combat exercise comes just after both countries hold their inaugural top-level “2plus 2” dialogue in New Delhi.
The Yudh Abhyas-2018 exercise is scheduled to be held from 16th September to 29th September 2018.
The Yudh Abhyas-2018 exercise will be upgraded to battalion-level field training exercise (FTX) and division-level command post exercise (CPX).
The Yudh Abhyas-2018 exercise will see the participation of around 400 soldiers from each side, increase from around 200 each earlier. India will be fielding 15 Garhwal Rifles.
The Yudh Abhyas exercise main aim is to enhance interoperability between armies. It will also focus on enhancing counter-terror cooperation.
The Yudh Abhyas exercise series was started in 2004 under US Army Pacific Partnership Program. This will be fourth-time exercise will be conducted at Chaubatia in Uttarakhand.
The Yudh Abhyas exercise is conducted every year alternately in India and the US. Last year, it was held at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in the United States.
