In a virtual launch, IIT-H launched a new N-95 Equivalent mask named US9. U Safe Healthcare, a startup Encouraged by the Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE) at the Indian Institute Technology, Hyderabad (IITH) Made a New US9 Mask to which Doctors in Gandhi, Osmania and Fever hospitals used and tested. The prices for the product equate to one-tenth of the market's other respirators.
Mask filtration rates are 98%, bacterial filtration rates 99.7%, and the infectious, splash, and flammable checks have been performed. It has a reusable and recyclable filter dual type. Leaks have been tested with IITH thermal image processing. South India Textile Research Association (SITRA) has approved the filtration of breathing cartridges.
It secretary Mr. Jayesh Ranjan congratulated U safe team and said CfHE product is meeting to the requirement of the people. Wearing the mask Mr. Jayesh also shared their experience that this mask also no strain on the nose and because of its three features that are Reusability, affordable, and flexibility it's a unique product.
This is the third product from CfHE in the past three months of the pandemic. The research activities are continuing though students are not there and this reflects the environment that has been prevailing on the campus,” said D.S. Murty, Director, IITH, adding that the product was designed within three months.
