Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has researched a cost-effective, high performance and self-powered UV photo detector.
Photo detector is a device used for detecting electromagnetic energy by using electrical effect of individual photons.
This photo detector can be used to operate electronic devices in the absence of external power source.
Photo detector traps UV radiation that falls on nano flakes by creating a gap between zinc oxide (ZnO) and causes more light reflection from the top surface.
When UV rays fall into the pores it goes through many changes and then finally gets absorbed.
This Photo detector has the highest as compared to the others as it detects the photos in milliseconds quickly and works fast even when the UV light intensity is low.
It detects the photos in milliseconds which is 100 times faster than the conventional photo detector.
