The Union Cabinet has approved for the establishment of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Jammu in a transit campus of Old Government College of Engineering and Technology.
This temporary establishment will cost around Rs.61.90 crore for four years starting from 2016 to 2020, meanwhile the steps will be taken for setting up the permanent campus at Jammu and an out-campus at Kashmir.
The students that will be selected are 54 and can be updated till 120 in the year 2020.
Cabinet has approved the formation under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and will be run and managed by Board of Governors which will be responsible for the administration and the operations happening in the institute.
As oer the PM's policy for the development of Jammu and Kashmir setting up IIM at Jammu, Modernisation of IIT Srinagar, establishment of two AIIMS institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
