The Indian Air Force Day is observed on October 8th across the country. The Indian Air Force Day was founded on October 8, 1932. Every year at Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, Indian Air Force Day is commemorated. The IAF head and other officials from the three military forces are present for the celebrations.
The Indian Air Force, also known as the ‘Bharatiya Vayu Sena,' was founded in the country by the British Empire on October 8, 1932. In April 1933, the first operational squadron was formed. However, it was only after India's participation in World War II that the Royal Indian Air Force was given its current name.
In 1932, the Indian Air Unit was established as a support force for the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom. Every year since then, the day has been commemorated as Indian Air Force Day.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is the Indian armed force's air arm and a critical organ that plays a critical role in the country's battles. Its major objective is to protect Indian airspace and undertake aerial operations during inter-national military situations.
Since independence, the Indian Air Force has fought in five wars, including four with Pakistan and one with the People's Republic of China.
Surprisingly, the Indian Air Force not only defends Indian territory and national interests against any threats, but also assists the country during natural disasters. As a result, the day is commemorated to honor and recognize our jawans' and the entire force's heroic efforts.
