India joins the league of developed nations with the approval of first ever Hyperloop project for Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh government join hands with US-based Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) company to develop futuristic Hyperloop transportation system for capital region Amravati.
Amravati to Vijayawada Hyperloop route is 35 Kms long. With the new transport system, the distance is projected to be covered in merely 5 minutes.
The MoU signed between the company and the government (Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board) did not disclose the cost of the project. This Hyperloop project is another example of public-private partnership. The funding will primarily come from private sector.
The project is projected to start after 6 months of study of route feasibility, the best route between two cities.
According to Hyperloop One CEP Rob Lloyd, India may get its first Hyperloop functional in the year 2021.
