Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh called up a meeting on Wednesday to look after the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and other ministers.
In the meeting, the situation of Indo-Pak border and Line of Control and the steps to be taken to check attempts of penetration from across the border.
They also checked the situation of gun battle between the military and security forces in Pampore.
They also took suggestions for the steps to be taken to make peace in the ongoing festive season.
The Home Ministry also advised different states to apply Special Forces in the state for more safety in sensitive places.
A two day conference will also held in Chandigarh to take a briefing to strengthen internal security in the country.
