Hima Das is the first Indian to win gold in a track event at the IAAF World U-20 Athletics Championships.
The country's star track and field female athlete Hima Das came to Assam for the first time after taking part in the Asian Games, where she received a lot of warm welcomes. Born in Ding, Assam, Hima won 3 medals in Asian Games.
In the Asian Games held in Indonesia, Hima won a gold and two silver medals while performing the show. She gave the women 4x400 gold to the country while the women won silver in 400 meters and mixed 4x400 meters.
The triple medalist of the Asian Games-2018, Hima Das, was warmly welcomed to reach Guwahati. There was a different carpet on the Guwahati airport for Hima, the track was built on it.
Other players, including women's athlete Hima Das, were warmly welcomed when they came from Indonesia to Delhi.
After winning the medal in Asian Games, Hima was honoured by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore as well. They were given a check for Rs 20 lakhs.
Assam-born Hima has won the gold of 400 meters of women in the Under-20 World Championship this year.
